OHIO: OHIO WILL BE LITIGATED [Tim Reed 10/20 08:55 AM]

I heard an interview with Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell today. He was all over a recent ruling by a federal judge concerning provisional balloting. Federal law leaves it up to the states to determine how provisional voting works. In Ohio, as in 27 other states and the District of Columbia, rovisional ballots must be cast in the proper precinct. This has been the law in Ohio for the last 10 years. Now a federal judge has ordered that provisional ballots are to be issued to voters voting in the wrong precinct. Blackwell said in the interview this will create the opportunity for voter fraud and will cause a lot of chaos. In addition, Jesse Jackson showed up at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections office to hold a rally to set up the case for black-voter disenfranchisement. State Democratic office holders had already started the cry of disenfranchisement.

If this ruling causes even half the chaos and fraud Blackwell expects Ohio will be neck deep in lawyers for a long time.
