Battlegrounders OHIO: LAWSUITS & LONG LINES [Kevin Holtsberry 11/02 07:35 PM] It turns out I may have spoken too soon. It appears that the lines have been getting longer this evening. TV reports are no estimating lines to include waits of four hours. People still in line as we approach the time when polls close may be in for a wait of a couple of hours. It is my understanding that a voter rights group has filled suit in federal court agains the Secretary of State and the Franklin County and Knox County Board of Elections. The goal is to get the boards to use punch card and provisional ballots to try and expedite the voting process in order to avoid voters refusing to wait in the long lines and to insure that voting is completed. I believe a press conference is scheduled soon and the parties are in federal court right now. |
