HAPPY PRESIDENTS' DAY
Bill Clinton has the lowest moral standard of the last nine presidents, according to a new poll by U.S. News & World Report. Clinton ranks first in this dubious category, say 56 percent of the respondents. (In a similar poll taken in 1988, Richard Nixon finished in the lead with 48 percent.) Jimmy Carter is considered the president who set the highest moral standard, say 34 percent. Ronald Reagan comes in a close second, with 27 percent.

In other presidential news, Rep. Tim Salmon (R., Ariz.) has promised to hire independent consultants to test the National Park Service's claim that Mt. Rushmore wouldn't survive the blasting necessary to add the Gipper's likeness to it.

THE ALSO RUNNINGS
K2K isn't a mountain in Kashmir they never got around to naming. Or even a robot in the next Star Wars. It's the too-cute tag for Rep. John Kasich's presidential bid, which, by the way, earned itself the requisite "exploratory committee" on Monday.

Meanwhile, Sen. Bob Smith (R., N.H.) is preparing to announce his own candidacy on Thursday. Let's hope he doesn't call it S2K.
